Make a Good First Impression
TIP 2
How long it takes to create an impression
Your first slide is your chance to either excite your audience for what lies ahead or cause it to click out of the screen. Use eye-catching visuals and a compelling title to draw in your audience.
Anyone who says “don’t judge a book by its cover” has never watched a boring webinar.

Embrace Storytelling 101
TIP 3
Have you ever given a child a bedtime presentation? Instead of treating your webinar like a standard talk, turn your topic into a story. Here are the five key storytelling elements you may want to add to your next virtual event.
Plot:
Take your audience on a journey from your thesis statement through supporting arguments to your final conclusion.
Set the stage for your audience by providing context around the when and where of your story.
Setting:
Illustrate who is involved in the story and describe their impact.
Characters:
Don’t just jump to your solution. Spend time on the barrier standing in the way, such as processes, resources, budgets, customers or planning.
Conflict:
Finish your webinar by showing the transformation of your character. Don’t forget to provide actionable tasks for your audience members so they can have their own fairy-tale ending.

TIP 4
Keep your slides simple while using as few words as possible. Use clear and specific imagery to help reinforce the message; avoid using busy photos or images that aren’t directly related to the slide topic at hand.
Slide Goals
1 slide per 5 minutes 1 main point per slide 15 words max per slide
Think Bigger
TIP 5
Your audience members aren’t just watching your webinar at their desks. They’re watching it at the coffee shop, at the airport and even on the bus. Because a sizable portion of your audience members will be watching your webinar on their phones, make sure your slide content is big enough to read on a tiny screen. Think big fonts and simple graphics; forget about elaborate charts and detailed bullet points.

Get Interactive
Don’t make your webinar a one-way conversation. Ask audience members questions using polls, surveys and live chat to keep them engaged and make the webinar more interactive. Extend the conversation beyond the session by integrating social media. Create a hashtag that your audience can use to share takeaways and feedback and spread the word about the session.

TIP 7
Most webinars are just a wall of slides backed by a disembodied voice. By using video of the presenter, you can use eye contact and body language to create a more authentic, human connection with the audience. Integrate live video of your presenter along with your slides.
• Make sure your background isn’t distracting • Check your lighting to make the presenter look good • Make eye contact with the camera
